Ejemplos del comparativo y superlativo en inglés

Primero, el comparativo:

Madrid is bigger than Valencia. (Compara 2 cosas: Madrid y Valencia)

Luego, el superlativo:

Madrid is the biggest city in Spain. (Compara Madrid con todas las demás ciudades en España… toda la categoría.)

Y otro ejemplo:

I’m older than my brother. (Compara una persona con otra.)

I’m the oldest in my family. (Superlativo, que compara una persona con los demás del grupo.)

Formamos el superlativo con el articulo definido “the” que se utiliza para cosas únicas. Luego tenemos dos formas superlativas, dependiendo de si el adjetivo es largo o corto.

big, bigger, the biggest

small, smaller, the smallest

old, older, the oldest

young, younger, the youngest

fast, faster, the fastest

slow, slower, the slowest

happy, happier, the happiest

early, earlier, the earliest

late, later, the latest

Superlativos en inglés con adjetivos más largos

Los adjetivos largos usan the most + el adjetivo en forma base para formar el superlativo. Aquí tienes el comparativo en medio, y el superlativo al final.

base … comparativo … superlativo

expensive, more expensive, the most expensive

beautiful, more beautiful, the most beautiful

interesting, more interesting, the most interesting

entertaining, more entertaining, the most entertaining

exciting, more exciting, the most exciting

intelligent, more intelligent, the most intelligent

Superlativos irregulares

Los irregulares son los mismos que en comparativo:

good, better, best

bad, worse, worst

far, further, furthest
